Dave Thompson is the principle of DWT & Associates, and has vast experience of the KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Swaziland coalfields. Thanks to this experience and his meticulous record keeping he is able to advise on the status of much of Southern Africa's coal reserves.

The Company was registered in 2001 to enable the utilization of a multi- disciplined team of experienced professionals in the fields of Coal Exploration, Mine Planning and Development, with special regard to Due Diligence, Feasibility Studies, “Bankable” documentation and Competent Person Reports being SAMREC, SANS and JORC compliant.

Coal Geology expertise has been aquired during “hands-on” exploration, drilling and mining activity in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Swaziland coalfields and adjacent SADC countries over the last 40 years including consulting services to Maloma (currently Xstrata), Genmin/Ingwe’s Mpaka (Emaswati) and Lubukhu Anthracite Collieries. At the same time, various exploration initiatives have been examined in the Swaziland Government’s CMA Prospecting Areas and elsewhere for numerous clients, with production of several confidential reports and “Review” documents. The expertise available enables speedy initial assessment and recommendations for any proposed “target” area presented, more than likely with considerable cost savings, enabling realistic identification of exploration requirements and methodology to enable opencast, underground and UCG exploitation.

The Association has access to registered Geological, Geotechnical and Environmental scientists, Mining, Civil, Metallurgical (Coal Processing), Combustion and Ventilation Engineers, Surveyors, GIS, Data capture and Computer Modeling experts, together with Financial and Legal services, all of the highest order. Consulting Fees are based on SACNAS and other controlling Professional Registration bodies recommended charge out rates.
